How to lift a VCE study score by 8 points in one year

Most students who plateau in VCE are not working too little, they are working without feedback. A study score improves when practice is graded, errors are catalogued, and the same error never appears twice.

Start by mapping every dot point of the study design onto a single tracking sheet. Rate each one honestly from one to five. Anything rated below four becomes this week's revision priority, everything else is maintenance.

Second, move to past exams earlier than feels comfortable. VCAA questions teach the assessment language faster than any textbook. Mark against the examiner's report, not your own judgement.

Third, build an error log. Every mistake gets a category: knowledge gap, misread, timing, or presentation. After four weeks the pattern is obvious and the fix becomes specific.

Finally, rehearse the exam, not just the content. Full papers, timed, no notes, same time of day as the real exam. Confidence on exam day is simply familiarity.
